Research and Graduate Education

Washington State University is on the move. With renewed energy and a relentless focus on quality, excellence, and accountability we are tackling the critical problems that face our state, nation, and world. As we progress, we are shining the spotlight on graduate education and research, as these are the mechanisms by which research universities create the future. Through our master’s and doctoral programs, we will discover new fundamental knowledge, and educate the next generation of leaders.

The most complex and difficult issues of the modern world are addressed in the laboratories and classrooms of the research university. Our state, nation, and world rely on the strength, independence, and innovations of university research in order to propel progress — making life better for all of us. Our university will have a profound impact in three areas of research strength where faculty across disciplines provide international leadership and institutional focus.
